What Golf Taught Me About Real Estate

If you know me, you know I love golf.
But what you might not know is that the game has shaped the way I approach real estate—and how I serve my clients.
Golf isn’t just a sport. It’s a discipline. A mindset. A rhythm. And funny enough, it’s taught me some of the most valuable lessons I apply in every transaction.
Whether you're buying your first home or preparing to sell one you’ve owned for decades, here are a few things the fairway has taught me that absolutely apply to the housing market.
1. Know the Course Before You Swing
In golf, you don’t just show up and start swinging. You study the course. You understand the terrain. You know where the trouble lies and where the opportunities are.
Same goes for real estate.
Before we list your home or write your offer, I make sure we understand the market. That means analyzing comps, buyer behavior, trends, and pricing strategies. The more we know upfront, the fewer surprises we’ll face later and the more confident your decisions will be.
2. Patience Is a Power Move
Golf rewards those who stay calm under pressure. The worst shots happen when you're rushing or reacting emotionally. Real estate is no different.
Buying or selling a home is a huge decision, and emotions can run high. My job is to keep things steady to make sure we’re playing the long game, not reacting to the noise. Patience often leads to better negotiation outcomes, better timing, and ultimately, better results.
3. Strategy > Power
A big swing might look impressive, but it's not always the smartest move.
In both golf and real estate, strategy beats force. Whether it’s timing your home sale for a specific season, prepping your property the right way, or negotiating a deal with clarity, having a smart plan from the beginning gives you a massive edge.
4. A Great Caddie Makes All the Difference
Even the best golfers have someone by their side a caddie who knows the course, helps them choose the right club, and keeps them focused when the pressures on.
